This journal aims to contribute to the understanding of some public institutions that promote women's human rights in relation to Social Work and Criminal Law. It is worth mentioning that this journal is the product of bibliographic and empirical research conducted by the authors. In this sense, we will provide a brief historical context of Human Rights, entering into the debate on Social Work and Criminal Law. Finally, we will raise some considerations regarding the role of the social worker in the fight against violence experienced by women. It is worth mentioning that professional practice is centered on freedom, ethical-political direction, and the autonomy of the individual, maintaining a democratic stance linked to Human Rights and Criminal Law.
