Abstract

This article aimed to analyze the social and clinical determinants associated with maternal complications in adolescent pregnancy, considering vulnerability factors related to maternal health in this context. This is an integrative literature review, conducted in three databases, including studies published in the last five years. The final sample consisted of 8 articles that met the study's eligibility criteria. The results showed that conditions of social vulnerability, such as low education, absence of a partner, and socioeconomic limitations, are associated with an increased risk of maternal complications, especially when related to inadequate prenatal care. Furthermore, clinical factors such as nulliparity, low pre-pregnancy weight, and reduced hemoglobin levels contribute to the worsening of gestational outcomes. Among the main complications identified, hypertensive diseases, infections, and other adverse obstetric outcomes stand out. It is concluded that maternal complications in adolescence result from the interaction between social, clinical, and care determinants, highlighting the need for comprehensive approaches in the health care of this population.
