Abstract

This article aimed to discuss the importance of the nurse's role in monitoring high-risk pregnancies, emphasizing conduct and interventions aimed at preventing eclampsia and, consequently, maternal-fetal mortality. It is an experience report, based on an interview with a nursing professional, complemented by a literature review relevant to the topic. It highlights that the nurse plays a fundamental role in promoting quality prenatal care, offering humanized assistance based on active listening and health education, focusing on risk reduction and prevention of possible complications for the mother and baby. It concludes that the proper implementation of prenatal care, respecting the number of consultations and examinations recommended according to the individual needs of each pregnant woman, significantly contributes to the prevention of complications and the reduction of maternal-fetal mortality rates.
