This article aimed to explore scientific evidence on non-pharmacological methods employed by nursing staff to alleviate anxiety in patients and their caregivers within the emergency room setting. A narrative literature review was conducted that examined international sources including PubMed, PubMed Central, BMC Nursing, Journal of Emergency Nursing, and StatPearls BrazilianJournals, Scielo, Repositório Comum, Caderno de biológicas, Revista Científica de Alto Impacto, MV Blog, Estadão, Indian Journal of Psychiatry, Revista Nursing from 2010 to 2025. Low-cost and easily implementable strategies such as music therapy, breathing and relaxation exercises, brief emotional support, and family presence demonstrated practical benefits. Music therapy was particularly noted for its effectiveness and reliability. These strategies enhance the humanization of care and foster a more proactive role for nursing in emotional support that encompasses self-awareness while maintaining positive physical and mental practices to manage emotions and stress appropriately.
