The present study addresses the relevance of active methodologies as a pedagogical resource in the continuing education of Portuguese Language teachers, considering the educational, social, and technological transformations that have required new approaches in teaching practice and new ways of constructing knowledge in the school context. The general objective of the research was to analyze the contribution of active methodologies to the strengthening of pedagogical practice, teacher participation, and the improvement of the teaching and learning process in the field of Portuguese Language. The justification for the study is related to the need to reflect on more meaningful, participatory, and school-context-oriented training processes, since many continuing education proposals still remain distant from the teacher’s daily practice. Methodologically, the research was developed through a literature review, based on academic publications related to continuing education, active methodologies, and Portuguese Language teaching, allowing the gathering and analysis of relevant theoretical contributions on the subject. It is concluded that active methodologies have the potential to make teacher education more reflective, dynamic, and contextualized, favoring the re-signification of pedagogical practices and contributing to a more critical, participatory, and meaningful performance in Portuguese Language teaching.
