COLLECTION ON THE PRISON SYSTEM AND PUBLIC SECURITY

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the literature and doctrine on the topic of Cultural Anthropology in the Prison System. The study of cultural anthropology aims at understanding and knowledge about man in his entirety, whose analysis involves the cultural and biological dimensions of the human being. Within the prison system, cultural anthropology aims to study the composition of the prison population, the profile of inmates, and the main types of crimes that lead to their incarceration. Through a bibliographic research methodology of doctrine, legal articles, and official publications on the subject, this article conducts a study on the historical context of anthropology, its origin and types, in general and in the Prison System, more focused on cultural or social anthropology, analyzing the social and cultural constitution and composition of people incarcerated in the prison system, their profiles, and the main types of crimes that led to their imprisonment.
