The text addresses reflections on the teaching-learning process in the 21st century, focusing on the new generation, called "Alpha Generation", which was born in 2010. Each generation presents its own characteristics related to the social and historical context, including behaviors and influences of technology. In this globalized context, new ways of teaching and learning have emerged with the incorporation of technologies, but simply adding technology to classrooms does not solve all teaching problems. Technology is just one element of a broad network of relationships that influence teaching and learning. Active methodology is a current topic in the educational environment, focusing on learning through a practical process of knowledge construction. In this process, the student assumes the main role and the teacher acts as mediator. Formal education is becoming increasingly blended and hybrid, extending into digital and everyday spaces. The teacher needs to integrate face-to-face and digital teaching, using mobile technologies to interact with students. The article aims to analyze active methodologies, with emphasis on design thinking, as innovative strategies in the educational context. A literature review will be carried out on active methodologies and design thinking, identifying their characteristics and principles, benefits and implementation challenges. The objective is to provide theoretical and practical support for educators interested in implementing these approaches in their educational programs.
