This study, developed within the scope of the Capacita Rio professional training project, aimed to analyze the impact of innovation workshops based on Design Thinking on the self-perception of competencies related to the professional goals of participants in situations of social vulnerability in Rio de Janeiro. Six in-person workshops were held in the Jacarepaguá and Cordovil centers between April and November 2024, following a structured script with practical activities. Participants answered a questionnaire about education and work and a specific questionnaire about how they perceived their own competencies before and after the workshop, configuring a pilot data collection for exploratory analysis. The findings indicate a greater preference for work arrangements with greater autonomy, such as the MEI (Individual Microentrepreneur), although most candidates are under the CLT (Consolidation of Labor Laws) regime, indicating a desire for a transition in work model, aiming for better financial returns and a desire to become entrepreneurs. The analysis reinforces the importance of public policy proposals and more assertive actions in combating unemployment and promoting entrepreneurship for people in situations of social vulnerability in the workplace in Rio de Janeiro and could be expanded to other regions.
