Abstract

The 1988 Federal Constitution establishes normative bases for the promotion of racial equality and the right to education, providing legal support for Quilombola School Education as a public policy aimed at guaranteeing the rights of Quilombola communities. This study analyzes the legal foundations, challenges, and prospects for the effective implementation of this educational modality, highlighting that its function goes beyond formal education, acting as an instrument for identity affirmation, cultural resistance, and social inclusion. It also examines the historical importance of quilombos (maroon communities) and the main normative frameworks that structure Quilombola School Education, such as the Statute of Racial Equality and the National Curriculum Guidelines. Finally, it is worth emphasizing that, despite structural and institutional obstacles, this educational policy constitutes a relevant mechanism for realizing fundamental rights and promoting social justice.
