Polytrauma is an overly complex clinical condition, frequently associated with multiple injuries and an elevated risk of mortality, requiring a rapid and integrated approach, especially in cases demanding abdominal and/or thoracic surgical interventions. Since its establishment three years ago, the Hospital Estadual do Centro Norte Goiano (HCN) has consolidated itself as a regional reference in trauma care in the northern region of the state of Goiás. This study aimed to evaluate the clinical outcomes of polytrauma patients, aged between 18 and 60 years, who underwent surgical procedures by the General Surgery team throughout 2024. This is a cross-sectional, retrospective, and descriptive study, based on the analysis of medical records of patients with an initial diagnosis compatible with polytrauma (ICD-10: T07, S36, S36.9, S27, S29). Of the 23 patients included in the sample, all underwent some type of surgical approach by the General Surgery (GS) team. Regarding the clinical outcome, hospital discharge was the most frequent result, occurring in 9 patients (39.13%). Mortality was recorded in 5 patients (21.74%), reflecting the severity of the conditions treated. In addition, 8 patients (34.78%) were transferred to other units, with no record of the outcome in the analyzed medical records, and 1 patient (4.35%) was discharged from General Surgery, subsequently dying due to orthopedic complications. These findings highlight the complexity of the surgical management of severe trauma and reinforce the role of the Centro-Norte State Hospital (HCN) as a regional reference in the care of critically ill patients with multiple traumatic injuries.
