This study aims to analyze care actions from a comprehensive perspective, focusing on the challenges faced after an HIV/AIDS diagnosis within the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS).. This is a qualitative, exploratory study conducted at a Specialized Care Service in the interior of Bahia, Brazil. Data were produced through semi-structured interviews and analyzed according to Minayo’s (2017) thematic content analysis technique. The results showed that factors such as poverty, food insecurity, transportation barriers, unemployment, and discrimination directly impact treatment adherence and quality of life. These vulnerabilities reinforce social inequalities and hinder continuity of care. However, humanized care, therapeutic bonding, support networks, and spirituality emerged as powerful strategies for coping and strengthening autonomy. It is concluded that comprehensive care requires intersectoral practices, continuing health education, and public policies committed to equity, human dignity, and the fight against stigma.
