Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition characterized by deficits in social communication and repetitive behavioral patterns, requiring humanized and multidisciplinary care, yet revealing significant gaps in nursing practice (APA, 2014; Silva et al., 2020). The objective of this study was to investigate nursing care practices for children with ASD, identifying effective interventions, challenges, and strategies to optimize care. This exploratory qualitative integrative literature review searched BVS, LILACS, SciELO, and MEDLINE databases (2019–2024) using DeCS descriptors and Boolean operators, selecting 9 articles from 79 initial records after screening. Results highlighted challenges such as lack of knowledge, training, and specific protocols, alongside effective practices including early screening in well-child visits, holistic care, family education, and support groups, as well as the need for validated screening tools. In conclusion, standardized protocols, continuous training, and stronger interprofessional collaboration are urgently needed to improve early detection and enhance the quality of life for children with ASD and their families.
