Abstract

This article seeks to highlight the importance and urgency of public policies that facilitate the reintegration of former prisoners into society as an effective strategy to reduce crime and mitigate the problem of prison overcrowding in the country. It examines the precarious conditions of Brazilian prisons and argues for the need for dignified reintegration of prisoners into society as a means of preventing criminal recidivism.
