This article analyzes the reality of employability among students enrolled in the Pronatec technical courses in Administration and Commerce at a state school in Arapiraca, Alagoas. The research seeks to answer whether there is alignment between the technical training offered by Pronatec, current public policies, and the demands of the local labor market. The central objective is to determine the level of employability of these students, relating it to their demographic profile, including age group and ethnicity, and to the mechanisms, impacts, and challenges associated with access to professional internships. The investigation adopted a qualitative approach, grounded in legal frameworks, and a quantitative approach, based on institutional statistical data from the school and the 5th Regional Education Management Office (5ª GERE), as well as a field survey conducted with 106 companies in the region using a structured questionnaire with a Likert scale from 1 to 5. The results indicate that the students and their families mostly belong to socially vulnerable groups. The business sector’s perception of technical training highlights the importance of aligning the competencies developed in the courses with the demands of the labor market. The study concludes that although technical courses contribute to the qualification of young people, significant barriers to their effective insertion into the labor market still persist.
