This article analyzes the importance of implementing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) as a strategic tool for the officers of the Penitentiary Police of Rio Grande do Sul, from therapeutic, sociological, and recreational perspectives, integrating knowledge from Physical Education with public safety. In the context of occupational stress and the changes brought about by Constitutional Amendment No. 104/2019, the study investigates how the "gentle art" assists in the Differentiated Use of Force (UDF) and in preserving the mental health of the police officer. The methodology is based on qualitative, bibliographic, and documentary research, combining doctrines from the School of Penitentiary Service (ESP/RS) with international UN standards and the Law on Abuse of Authority (Law No. 13,869/2019). The results indicate that technical mastery of Jiu-Jitsu promotes "cognitive calm," reduces absenteeism due to burnout, strengthens esprit de corps, and offers legal security to the officer, minimizing operational excesses through biomechanical control and immobilization.
