Check the abstract of the summary below> Interprofessional communication has been recognized as a central element for improving healthcare practices and for in-service training. In the context of veterinary medicine residency in health surveillance, there is a need to understand how this communication can act as a teaching tool in the learning process. This study aimed to analyze, through a literature synthesis review, how interprofessional communication contributes to the learning of veterinary medicine residents, as well as to identify the main factors that hinder this process. This is a qualitative research study, based on the analysis of scientific articles selected according to pre-established criteria. The interpretation of the findings allowed the organization of the results into four themes: the importance of interprofessional communication for multiprofessional teams; communication as a mediator of learning in health; the factors that negatively interfere with communication processes; and the educational measures to overcome such barriers. The results show that interprofessional communication promotes the collective construction of knowledge, strengthens collaborative practices, and enhances meaningful learning in real work contexts. However, obstacles such as hierarchy, fragmentation of practices, and lack of dialogical spaces persist. It is concluded that interprofessional communication should be recognized as a structuring pedagogical axis in health education, demanding institutional and methodological investments that promote more integrated, dialogical, and collaborative learning environments.
