Burnout Syndrome is a psychosocial phenomenon resulting from chronic occupational stress, especially prevalent in professions that require constant interpersonal contact, such as teaching. This article aims to analyze the factors contributing to the development of Burnout in municipal public school teachers, considering the complex relationship between professional calling, working conditions, and mental health. The research, which has a bibliographic and qualitative approach, was based on a systematic review of seventeen recent studies that identify work overload, precarious working conditions, school violence, and the lack of institutional support as the main triggers of the syndrome. The results indicate a high prevalence of Burnout and show that the impacts on teaching practice include emotional exhaustion, presenteeism, lack of motivation, and detriment to the teaching-learning process. Based on the data analysis, it is concluded that primary prevention strategies and teacher valuation policies, aiming at structural changes and the promotion of well-being, are essential to minimize the effects of the syndrome and promote the occupational health of educators.
