This article presents the results of a brief survey with Venezuelan students attending the school where the author works. It aims to raise awareness about global migration, its causes, consequences, and the challenges migrants face before feeling a sense of belonging and acceptance in their new home. It is observed that despite the difficulties migrants face, when they find a welcoming environment, adaptation and learning at school become easier, and consequently, their lives can flow normally after mastering the language of the country. However, these challenges may be greater specifically for students, because upon arrival they already carry the burden of family difficulties, which they must overcome, and they also need to go through the process of acquiring the official language of the country to which they have migrated. All of this, if there is no welcoming environment or favorable conditions for these individuals to start over, can be a source of distress and negatively impact student learning. On the other hand, this entire process, however difficult, can yield surprising results when there is acceptance and dignified living conditions for migrant families. To understand these situations, research was conducted among some students, revealing real experiences and some outcomes. It concludes with an analysis of the migratory process, showing that anything is possible when certain values inherent to "being human" prevail.
