This article aimed to discuss the role of the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS) in controlling metastatic cancer progression, considering its role in organizing the oncology care network, universal access to services, and comprehensive care. The methodology was based on a literature review conducted in the SciELO, LILACS, and PubMed databases, using the DeCS/MeSH descriptors: Neoplasms, Neoplastic Metastasis, and Brazilian Unified Health System. Articles published between 2020 and 2025, available in full text, were included, with duplicates excluded. The results indicated that the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS) contributes significantly to early diagnosis, timely initiation of treatment, access to oncological therapies, and palliative care—factors that directly influence the control of metastatic progression. The discussion highlighted important advances in the structuring of oncological care, although challenges such as regional inequalities and delays in access to specialized examinations and treatments persist. It is concluded that the SUS plays an essential role in addressing metastatic cancer, and strengthening public policies and the oncological care network is fundamental for better clinical outcomes. The objective of this study was to analyze the importance of the Unified Health System's role in controlling metastatic cancer progression, based on recent scientific evidence.
