THERAPEUTIC TOYS AS A MEANS OF HUMANIZATION IN PEDIATRIC UNITS

Introduction: Hospitalization causes fear, anxiety, stress, and impacts children's physical, emotional, and social well-being, interfering with their development. Playful activities, such as therapeutic toys, contribute to humanizing care, reducing stressors, and promoting safety, fun, and bonding with professionals and family members. Law No. 11,104/2005 encourages toy libraries in pediatric hospitals, strengthening recovery and comprehensive care. The study addresses public policies and the role of the multidisciplinary team, especially nursing. Objective: to address Therapeutic Toys and their impact during child hospitalization Methodology: Integrated literature review, collecting and summarizing existing scientific knowledge. Analysis and discussion of results: Therapeutic Toys are essential for child hospitalization, promoting well-being, stress relief, and strengthening bonds between children, family members, and health professionals. Their application favors the expression of feelings, understanding of procedures, and adherence to treatment. Toy libraries and humanization policies amplify these benefits, providing playful and educational spaces. Despite this, there are challenges such as limited resources and low incorporation into clinical practice, reinforcing the importance of professional training and awareness. Conclusion: Therapeutic toys are essential in pediatric hospitalization, promoting well-being, distraction, and reduction of stress and fears associated with invasive procedures. They facilitate the expression of feelings, strengthen bonds, and contribute to treatment adherence. The planned actions of nurses and the use of toy libraries enhance their effects, humanizing care. Investing in professional training and the availability of resources ensures comprehensive, safe, and humanized pediatric care.
