CHALLENGES AND PERCEPTIONS IN ONCOLOGICAL PALIATIVE CARE: A VOCATIONAL OPTIC

In the current context, the integration of palliative care in oncological care is essential to intensify the quality of life of patients and their families, in the same way that it seeks to contribute to the humanization in the interprofessional approach, so that they can address psychological, physical, social and spiritual issues, in order to ensure in terms of care the comfort and well-being of the care provided. Objective: To know the perception and self-efficacy index of the professional about palliative care in the care of the oncological patient. Methodology: The study is presented with a quantitative approach, implemented through the application of the Self-Efficacy Scale in Palliative Care (SEPC-BR) for professionals in the multidisciplinary team. Thus, data collection is obtained in an exploratory way and with a sample classified as "snowball". Result: The research had a total of 46 professionals, aged between 25 and 51 years, all with current or previous experience in the area of oncological palliative care, being inserted in this context for more than 6 months. There was a predominance of the female public, higher prevalence of nurses, doctors and psychologists. Final considerations: In a comprehensive way, the professionals inserted in the sample present a positive perception of self-efficacy in the performance of oncological CP, contradicting the placement of a moderate qualification exposed in the hypothesis. In addition, in agreement, the ability to recognize the difficulties listed in the emotional approach and the communication involved with patients, family members and caregivers is highlighted, inferring quality in interpersonal relationships.
