Abstract

Reading stimulates skills such as empathy and creativity in children, expands their repertoire and worldview, and, combined with interpretation, enhances their critical thinking. This work highlights the importance of encouraging reading and how it can aid in child development, both at school and in social contexts. The research was conducted through studies of monographs, articles, reports, and news articles that address the topic and the functioning of neural learning processes. It is hoped that this work will broaden the understanding of the importance of encouraging reading in a child's life during early childhood education and the first years of their development, since the habit of reading expands the ability to understand and analyze the world, a skill that will be used beyond school life. Studies show that the literacy process is faster and more effective when constant reading and encouragement accompany this process. There is also research that discusses how neural processes become more efficient. In conclusion, reading and its encouragement are a fundamental pillar for the development of children's learning, both in the literacy of students and in the social sphere, being something they will carry with them for the rest of their lives.
