This article analyzes the role of leisure and recreational activities in Early Childhood Education, highlighting their relevance to the integral development of children throughout their school and social trajectory. It is based on the understanding that play goes beyond the notion of entertainment and constitutes an essential resource for knowledge construction, as well as for strengthening cognitive, motor, emotional, and social skills, in addition to fostering autonomy and creativity. The research shows that playful experiences significantly contribute to student engagement and active participation, especially among those who demonstrate a lack of motivation in the school environment. A qualitative approach was used, allowing for an in-depth understanding of how playful activities expand learning opportunities and promote a more welcoming, inclusive, and meaningful environment. The results point to the need to integrate leisure into daily pedagogical practices, reaffirming its role as a fundamental component of the educational process.
