Abstract

Cow's milk protein allergy (CMPA) will be an increasingly frequent condition in childhood, especially in the first years of life. It is an adverse immunological reaction to cow's milk proteins, which can manifest in various ways, from gastrointestinal and dermatological symptoms to respiratory complications. Given this scenario, a healthcare approach that involves not only medical diagnosis but also continuous monitoring and support for the child and their family will be essential. Nursing will play a fundamental role in this process, especially in guiding, monitoring, and supporting families. This work will seek to answer the following guiding question: how can the guidance provided by nursing professionals contribute to the early diagnosis and effective management of infant CMPA, promoting the child's well-being and empowering the family in daily care? To answer this question, the methodology adopted will be an integrative literature review, through the analysis of scientific articles, books, and updated guidelines on cow's milk protein allergy (CMPA), as well as the role of nursing in the diagnosis and management of the condition. For this purpose, relevant publications from the last five years, available in reliable databases such as SciELO, PubMed, and BVS, will be selected. This approach will allow us to understand the main challenges and, above all, the strategies in the nurse's role, highlighting the importance of health education and multidisciplinary follow-up to ensure comprehensive and humanized care.
