Hydrocephalus is a serious condition characterized by the accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid within the ventricular system of the brain. Currently, hydrocephalus is one of the most easily detectable anomalies during prenatal care, being diagnosed in the second trimester of pregnancy through assessments of ventricular size, atrioventricular size, and its relationship with the choroid plexus. Treatment of hydrocephalus aims to normalize the hydrodynamics of the cerebrospinal fluid and should be individualized. This work aims to identify what hydrocephalus is and how pharmacists can contribute during hospital stays. The methodology used was a literature review based on the years 2020 to 2025. Through pharmaceutical care, pharmacists can collaborate with pharmacological guidance when necessary in treatment, as well as provide guidance on medications for treatments related to comorbidities that hydrocephalus can cause.
