Urgent and emergency care units reflect the complexity of the Brazilian healthcare system, serving as one of the main points of entry into the Unified Health System (SUS). Among the various conditions presented by patients, hemorrhage stands out as the leading cause of potentially preventable death in trauma victims, requiring immediate and precise interventions. Therefore, this study aimed to survey scientific publications that address the interventions necessary to control hemorrhage, as well as the importance of nurses in dealing with this complication. This was an integrative review of the literature using the Virtual Health Library (VHL) database and the Google Scholar scientific search tool, conducted in September 2025. The results found in this study highlighted the following thematic areas: “Epidemiological aspects and management of bleeding in the hospital environment” and “Conduct, protocols, and professional training in the management of bleeding in the pre-hospital environment.” It is therefore concluded that strengthening technical training, investing in practical training, and expanding research in the area are fundamental to improving nursing performance in the context of urgent and emergency care in situations of hemorrhage.
