Introduction: This study addressed what constitutes a chronic degenerative condition, highlighting the fundamental role of nursing professionals in promoting the quality of life of people with these conditions. Objective: To identify, through literature review, nursing care focused on users with chronic degenerative diseases. Materials and Methods: For the development of this study, a qualitative research approach was considered, using an integrative literature review based on scientific articles and books. Therefore, research was conducted in the SciELO, Google Scholar, World Health Organization, and Ministry of Health databases, and a survey of scientific publications related to the subject was carried out. Results: The study highlighted the importance of Health Policies in promoting the quality of life of users with chronic degenerative conditions. Furthermore, it emphasized the nursing professional as an effective health educator, playing a fundamental role in promoting the quality of life of these users and in the execution of necessary care and examinations provided in their assistance. Conclusion: The performance of a duly qualified nursing professional is essential for the quality of health care and for strengthening the population's trust in the care provided by these professionals.
