Preeclampsia is considered a serious complication of pregnancy, characterized by the onset of high blood pressure and proteinuria after the 20th week of pregnancy, without episodes of convulsion. Preeclampsia is one of the main risk factors for maternal mortality, negatively impacting fetal and neonatal health, and is considered one of the main obstetric syndromes in developing countries such as Brazil. Thus, adequate blood pressure monitoring with careful prenatal follow-up is essential to reduce the risks associated with the disease and its complications. The role of nurses is fundamental in assessing variations in signs and symptoms during prenatal care. Therefore, the objective of this study was to analyze the benefits of early diagnosis of preeclampsia in pregnant women with risk factors, emphasizing the importance of nurses in identifying signs and symptoms during prenatal care. This is a qualitative, descriptive, and exploratory study with a bibliographic approach, with publications from 2020 to 2025 as inclusion criteria. It was found that early diagnosis of preeclampsia is a crucial strategy to ensure the safety of the pregnant woman and the fetus. The need for standardization of care protocols was also observed. It is concluded that the role of nurses in primary care is fundamental, enabling efficient and preventive interventions.
