The humanization of childbirth is an essential approach to promoting respect, autonomy, and dignity for pregnant women, serving as an effective tool in combating obstetric violence. Woman-centered care integrates clear communication, welcoming, active participation in decisions, and safe practices based on the physiology of childbirth, reducing unnecessary interventions and preventing coercive conduct. The overall objective of this study is to investigate the role of nursing in the humanization of childbirth as a strategy to combat obstetric violence. This is an integrative literature review, a method that allows for the synthesis of existing knowledge and the incorporation of the applicability of results from relevant studies in professional practice, bringing together contributions from different authors on the same topic. The results show that the nurse's role transcends technical expertise, assuming a mediating, educational, and protective role in reproductive rights. By organizing care flows, monitoring routines, and intervening in inappropriate conduct, the nurse contributes to transforming the obstetric environment and consolidating more welcoming care models. It is concluded that the humanization of childbirth, combined with qualified nursing practice, represents an indispensable element for the prevention of obstetric violence, the promotion of female autonomy, and the strengthening of safe and respectful birth experiences.
