Neonatal sepsis is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality among newborns, especially premature infants. Early detection and timely intervention are essential to reduce complications and deaths. In this context, nursing plays a fundamental role in the early identification, prevention, and appropriate management of the neonate. Objective: To identify the main nursing care strategies aimed at the early identification and prevention of neonatal sepsis. Methodology: Integrative literature review with searches in the SciELO, PubMed, BVS, and Google Scholar databases, including studies from 2010 to 2025, in Portuguese and English. Results: The nursing team plays a fundamental role in the continuous monitoring of the newborn, allowing the identification of early signs, in addition to preventive strategies such as hand hygiene, aseptic care, continuing education, and the use of institutional protocols, which reduce the incidence of sepsis. Conclusion: Skilled nursing practice is crucial for the early recognition and prevention of neonatal sepsis, contributing to reduced morbidity and mortality and improved care for newborns.
