Education occupies a central place in the constitution and maintenance of social structures. While it enables individual advancement and collective development, it also acts as a mechanism for reproducing social and economic inequalities. This article aims to analyze education as a factor of production and reproduction of the social system, from a theoretical and critical approach based on authors such as Pierre Bourdieu, Louis Althusser, Dermeval Saviani, and Paulo Freire. The discussion highlights that the school, although it is a space for formation and emancipation, also fulfills ideological functions that reinforce the logic of domination of the capitalist system. Understanding this dual role of education is essential for developing transformative pedagogical practices committed to social justice.
