BURNOUT SYNDROME AND ITS IMPACTS ON WORKERS' MENTAL HEALTH

Burnout Syndrome (BS) is a public health issue, as it affects professionals from different fields, especially those who work directly with people and perform caregiving activities, leading to consequences for physical and mental health and overall quality of life. Characterized by professional exhaustion, BS has a multidimensional nature, with symptoms that include emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and low professional accomplishment. Given this scenario, the present study aimed to discuss the impact of Burnout Syndrome in the workplace. It was based on an integrative literature review, drawing from scientific articles, books, journals, and current legislation on the subject. Data collection was carried out using databases such as Scielo, Google Scholar, among others, covering the period from 2020 to 2025. The results showed that constant performance pressure, combined with the market’s relentless demands, places professionals in a cycle of chronic stress, affecting not only their productivity but also their interpersonal and family relationships. In this context, the role of the organizational and work psychologist becomes essential. It is up to this professional to identify risk factors early, promote listening and dialogue spaces, develop well-being programs, and train leaders for humanized management.
