This study aimed to analyze the inventory management of medications and supplies at the Monsenhor Walfredo Gurgel Hospital, a highly complex public institution, seeking to describe the logistical routine, operational challenges, and the impact on the quality of service provided. The research is descriptive and qualitative in nature, using bibliographic, documentary, and field approaches, including interviews with professionals from the Pharmaceutical Supply Center. The analysis was conducted based on the stages of the Pharmaceutical Care Cycle. For selection and programming, a list validated by the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee is used, along with tools such as LAIS and Power BI to collect real-time consumption data, improving planning. For acquisition, the preferred model is the SESAP Price Registration Act; however, the lack of management autonomy generates dependence on palliative alternatives. Regarding storage and distribution, the FEFO (First Expired, First Out) method is adopted to minimize losses due to expiration, with semi-annual general inventories and periodic cyclical balances ensuring accuracy. The absence of reverse logistics was identified as a significant gap. It was concluded that, despite formalized procedures, management is constantly challenged by the high demand and complexity of the public system.
