This article has os its theme music and dance as a pedagogical tool in education, with the approach of subsidies from these arts for the construction of knowledge, resulting in several benefits for the world of children and the early grades. The general objective is to analyze music and dance, and their contributions to child development, the specific objective: to approach the relevance of music and dance in education; to present how it got into Brazilian schools, demonstrating its importance as a pedagogical tool, enabling classes to be more attractive and pleasurable and for children to learn in a fun way; to demonstrate how to work music and dance in school in a coherent, planned and creative way, providing children with the pleasure of listening, singing, playing and improvising, implying, thus, in a meaningful teaching-learning process.
