Abstract

Eclampsia is a severe condition associated with increased blood pressure during pregnancy, characterized by a rapid and dangerous onset. Preeclampsia raises concerns among healthcare professionals due to the risks it poses to both mother and baby. Given the complexity of preeclampsia, nursing professionals must be qualified to monitor prenatal care. In this context, the study aims to analyze nursing care provided to pregnant women with preeclampsia in the context of primary health care, by observing the care practices adopted by nurses during prenatal follow-up. To this end, the study is characterized as an Integrative Literature Review with a qualitative approach, in accordance with PRISMA guidelines, conducting searches in the BVS, LILACS, PubMed, Scielo, and CAPES databases for scientific studies published between 2019 and 2024, using the following descriptors: “Preeclampsia,” “Nursing Care,” “Primary Health Care,” “Pregnant Women Monitoring,” and “Prenatal Care,” through the PICO strategy. The final sample, consisting of 18 studies, demonstrates that nursing care for pregnant women with preeclampsia in primary health care is essential to prevent maternal and fetal complications, as it allows for early screening, identification of risk factors, and the application of clinical and educational care that ensures a safer prognosis. It was found that the role of the nurse goes beyond technical care, encompassing actions of support, humanization, and health education, which are crucial for increasing adherence to prenatal follow-up and reducing complications related to the condition. However, obstacles remain, related to structural, socioeconomic, and organizational barriers, which may affect the effectiveness of the care provided.
