Abstract

Teaching students with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) can be a real challenge. After an extensive review of the literature, this article observed that it is not that these students are not willing to learn, the fact is that their brains are not equipped to understand the same teaching methods implemented for regular students. The main symptoms of ADHD such as impulsiveness, inattention and hyperactivity problems can be confused with other disorders and medical problems, including learning difficulties and emotional problems. And, specifically in the educational field, this disorder can hinder children's performance in activities and their evolution in learning. In addition to informing what ADHD is, what can cause it, what are the symptoms and how to support children with this type of disorder, this article sought to describe what the role of the teacher who works with children with this disorder should be in classroom and what are the most appropriate approaches and educational strategies for the success of these children in school, in addition to addressing the challenge of including these students in school.
