Caring for critically ill patients, especially in intensive care units (ICUs), requires a sensitive and humanized approach to addressing the individual's physical and emotional vulnerability. This article aims to analyze the importance of humanization in the care of critically ill patients, highlighting its impact on the quality of care and the relationship between professionals, patients, and families. This is qualitative, descriptive, and exploratory research, developed through a literature review of articles published between 2015 and 2025. The results indicate that humanization improves the bond between staff and patient, reduces suffering, strengthens family involvement, and contributes to recovery. The conclusion is that humanization should be incorporated as a central axis of intensive care, promoting comprehensive technical and emotional care.
