The objective is to present a historical overview of the relationship between the sexual division of labor and women's soccer, highlighting points for comparative analysis between both sexes in soccer and their respective global valuations, as well as a brief overview of the appreciation of this sport in the municipality of Vila Rica, Mato Grosso do Sul. We used Lakatos's (2003) bibliographic research method as our data production method. This allowed us to gather information from a variety of sources, from academic literature to official government portals. We conducted a historical analysis of women's inclusion in soccer, highlighting points related to the devaluation and veiled segregation of women in global and Brazilian soccer. Academic literature currently highlights that schools, especially Physical Education classes, are organized based on dichotomous theories, which emphasize that volleyball is a women's sport and soccer is a men's sport, reinforcing discriminatory and prejudiced thinking. We understand that the school needs to be an active entity in the fight against prejudices related to the practice of women's football, and not a mere reproducer of the controversial and socially disseminated thought, that there are specific activities for women and men in society.
