Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between aesthetics and female self-esteem through an integrative literature review. The research was conducted using databases such as SciELO, PubMed, and LILACS, covering publications from 2008 to 2024. The findings demonstrate that aesthetic care, particularly minimally invasive procedures such as botulinum toxin and hyaluronic acid applications, contribute to personal enhancement, body image satisfaction, and women’s psychological well-being. On the other hand, studies warn that the pursuit of idealized beauty standards may pose physical risks and negatively affect mental health, including anxiety, dissatisfaction, and a tendency toward compulsive interventions. It is concluded that aesthetics play a significant role in shaping female self-esteem and should be approached critically, with balance, and in alignment with the promotion of holistic health.
