Abstract

This study aims to analyze the current context of hospital dentistry in brazil, highlighting its importance in clinical practice and the public policies that regulate this field. The adopted methodology was a literature review, seeking to understand the historical evolution of the specialty, its clinical benefits, and the challenges faced in consolidating it within hospital services.hospital dentistry has proven to be essential in comprehensive health care, especially in medium and high-complexity settings such as intensive care units, surgical centers, and palliative care. The presence of the dentist in these environments contributes to the prevention of severe systemic infections, reduction in hospitalization time, and improvement in clinical outcomes.
