Low back pain refers to the presence of pain, muscle tension or stiffness above the inferior pubic symphysis and below the costal margin, with or without sciatica. Most people will experience at least one episode of severe back pain in their lifetime. This pain can occur in the intervertebral discs, sacroiliac and interface joints, muscles, fascia, bones, nerves, and meninges. Physical therapy has a variety of therapeutic resources that help promote symptomatic pain relief and patient rehabilitation. We can highlight the Maitland techniques and the Mulligan. The central objective of this work is: to review the benefits caused by Maitland and Mulligan therapies in the relief of pain in the lumbar region. To answer this question, it will be necessary to carry out a guiding and normative survey of data, seeking to clearly perceive the damage caused to the health of the bone structure, especially the lumbar region. Qualitative research must be flexible, as it encompasses studies of a theoretical and methodological nature. The theoretical foundation is based on the review of health concepts, specifically functional, and orthopedic physiotherapy. Research shows that Maitland and Mulligan Concept mobilization and techniques applied to the spine are effective in reducing low back. However, what is observed is that both techniques are often applied to other types of interventions and for this reason it is not known for sure whether low back pain decreases due to the use of these therapies, or the interventions associated with them. Thus, the development of this project may contribute to the discussion on potential techniques in the treatment of low back pain.
