Obesity is a chronic multifactorial condition that has reached epidemic proportions worldwide, being associated with a high risk of cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, musculoskeletal disorders, and neoplasms. Its management requires a complex approach that goes beyond isolated medical care and involves different health disciplines. In this context, the multiprofessional approach has proven to be essential, integrating physicians, nutritionists, psychologists, physical educators, and other professionals in the development of personalized strategies. Recent evidence demonstrates that structured programs focused on nutritional counseling, promotion of physical activity, psychological support, and, when necessary, pharmacotherapy or bariatric surgery, present better results in weight reduction and long-term maintenance. Moreover, interdisciplinarity enhances patient adherence to treatment, reducing dropout and relapse rates. This review compiles contemporary studies that highlight the benefits of a multiprofessional approach, discussing current strategies and challenges for its consolidation as an effective model in obesity management.
