Abstract

The article analyzes the typification of femicide in the Brazilian Penal Code, addressing its definition, application and the impacts of this legislation on society. Introduced by Law No. 13,104/2015, the typification of femicide was a milestone in the fight against gender violence, qualifying the murder of women on the basis of gender as a specific and more serious crime. The research examines how this legislation differs from other forms of homicide, its legal implications, and the challenges in its implementation. In addition, the study discusses the effectiveness of the protection and punishment measures established, identifying the obstacles faced by victims and the judicial system. The analysis highlights the importance of recognizing femicide as a specific form of gender-based violence and its implications in the broader fight against domestic and family violence, suggesting ways to improve law enforcement and strengthen women's protection.
