THE SIGNIFICANCE OF PSYCHIATRIC RENEWAL WITH THE FAMILY OF PEOPLE WITH MENTAL DISORDERS

Abstract

Its objective was to search to unveil the relatives vision about  Psychiatric Renewal. This is a qualitative study and uses as a referential the theory of  Social Representations. By means of the reports their realities were represented concerning the emotional, mental and social elements. From analyzing all the has emerged one category, among others: “ The results showed, besides, the predominance of a decreasing vision of process so it a main objective of renewing the extinction  of psychiatric hospital, showing concerns about the possibility of this fact increasing still more the lack of framework to answer the demands of customers. The  comprehension of families about psychiatric renewal still doesn’t reach the dimension  desired. The insertion of  family and users into the new model of mental health care will allow for the sharing of mental patients care designated for professionals and psychiatric institutions.
