Bronchial and lung cancer are among the leading causes of mortality from malignant neoplasms worldwide, representing a significant public health problem. This study aimed to analyze the epidemiological panorama of mortality from this neoplasm in the state of Bahia between 2017 and 2021. This was an ecological time-series study, using data extracted from the Mortality Information System (SIM/DATASUS), considering the ICD-10/C34 category. The variables analyzed included sex, race/ethnicity, age group, education level, marital status, and mortality rate, calculated based on the resident population and expressed per 100,000 inhabitants. The analysis was performed using Microsoft Excel 2021®, using simple descriptive statistics. Because these are public and aggregated secondary data, approval by an Ethics Committee was not required. The results indicated a significant increase in mortality from bronchial and lung cancer during the analyzed period, especially among men and the elderly. The findings reinforce the need for public policies focused on prevention, early diagnosis, and effective treatment of the disease in the state of Bahia.
