This article proposed the use of an Arduino-based automation system to monitor and supervise two water treatment processes at a Water Treatment Plant (WTP), namely coagulation and flocculation. It demonstrated the effectiveness of an Internet of Things (IoT)-based solution for optimizing water treatment. A source code for this problem was used, and low-cost equipment, such as Arduino, was used, along with sensors and actuators that collect information and transmit it to a supervisory system. It was emphasized that automation in a WTP process is essential to ensure greater reliability, agility, and corrections in the treatment steps. The conclusion was that by gathering and analyzing real data from the asset, it became possible to optimize processes, improve operational efficiency, and facilitate strategic decision-making. The Arduino interface constitutes an extremely easy and versatile mechanism for use in automation and supervision processes, integrated with Elipse Scada.
