The Restorative Culture of Peace is intrinsically related to the prevention and non-violent resolution of conflicts, through dialogue and negotiation in parallel to the traditional lens of Retributive Justice, more focused on punishment rather than repairing damage. Analyzing its intersection with Michel Foucault's theories on power, discipline and social practices, a significant overlap is seen in terms of his concern with power, subjectivity and social transformation. Both highlight the importance of self-knowledge, empowerment and accountability of individuals, as well as the need to recognize and value diversity in contemporary society and the ability for autonomy.
