This report presents the experience of passive and participant observation during a supervised internship in Psychology at a clinic specializing in the treatment of chemical dependency. The text describes the physical and organizational structure of the institution, the profile of the residents, the work of the multidisciplinary team, the therapeutic routine, and the interpersonal bonds developed in the clinical setting. Through direct monitoring of institutional and therapeutic activities, it was possible to deepen the understanding of the complexity of chemical dependency, as well as reflect on the challenges that permeate the care and recovery process. The experience contributed to the improvement of clinical perception, qualified listening, and ethical posture, fundamental to the work of psychologists in contexts of vulnerability and psychological distress. Furthermore, the experience provided reflection on the importance of self-care and mental health for professionals working in the field, since working with chemical dependency can be emotionally draining. The report also proposes reflections on the importance of welcoming, the therapeutic bond, and interdisciplinary work as central elements for effective treatment.
