This paper aims to explain the importance of Libras in social contexts, particularly within legal contexts. Deaf people have always had a history marked by oppression, setbacks, and injustices due to the difficulty of communicating between the majority oral language (auditory) and sign language. Therefore, it is of utmost importance that they have access to their rights and responsibilities presented in their own language, respecting their culture and identity. Therefore, this paper aims to highlight the challenges faced by deaf people when relying on the legal system and the importance of implementing and/or improving the aspects that guide the judicial system.
