This report describes the experience of a 20-hour observational internship in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) at a recovery home in the Curitiba region, known as Casa Terapêutica Masculina Renovação (Renewal Men's Therapeutic Home), dedicated to the treatment of drug and alcohol addicts, housing twenty-four male inmates aged 18 to 59. The support team includes four monitors on alternating shifts, a psychologist with eight-hour weekly Saturday sessions, a social worker with eight hours a week, and the owner of the home, a pastor, and his wife. The method employed involved participatory observation and interaction with the inmates, aiming to understand the dynamics and challenges of rehabilitation in a therapeutic context, observing the multidisciplinary interaction and the approaches used to promote the recovery and social reintegration of the inmates. The observations highlighted the complexity of addiction treatment and the importance of integrating different knowledge and support systems for the development and well-being of individuals in recovery. They emphasized the importance of a structured environment and ongoing support for the therapeutic success of those receiving treatment, as well as the involvement of family members to achieve better results throughout the treatment process.
